Alton Eubanks, of Trenton, was charged with first-degree murder on Monday, Nov. 7, Mercer County Prosecutor Angelo J. Onofri said in a release with local officials.
He was initially arrested for purposefully disturbing, moving and/or concealing human remains on Wednesday, Oct. 12.
Trenton Police responding to a call for a well-being check found Episcopo-Daniels’ body in the basement of a Park Avenue residence after forcing entry on Wednesday, Sept. 21, DailyVoice.com previously reported.
Detectives say Eubanks and Daniels lived together at the Park Avenue address and were involved in a romantic relationship.
Eubanks allegedly put her body into a black trash bag and moved it down to the basement, where it was later found by police.
An autopsy by the Middlesex County Medical Examiner’s Office found Episcopo-Daniels’ death to be a homicide caused by blunt force injuries, Onofri said.
The prosecutor’s office has filed a motion to detain Eubanks pending trial.
